UK Society of Celebrants: Newsletter June 2013

Hello to all our Newsletter Subscribers

Summer is finally upon us and we hope you are all keeping well. You have probably realised that this Newsletter is not in the usual format. The reason for the change is that publishing our Newsletters via our blog, saves time, is more flexible and accessible to a wider audience and will provide a handy archive of Newsletter Back-Issues. Now for some announcements.

Celebrant Trainers
We would like to welcome two new Celebrant Trainers to our Training Team; Phil Hammond is an experienced Family & Funeral Celebrant based in Bristol and will Tutor / Mentor all of our Direct Learning Courses in the South West of England and will soon be one of our online Tutors too. Similarly, Jade Gracie from Manchester has been a Family Celebrant in the North West of England for the last 3 years as a side to being a College Lecturer. Jade trained to be a Funeral Celebrant with us last year and has now started to Tutor / Mentor on our Family Celebrancy Distance Learning Course. Jade will soon Tutor the Funeral Celebrant Course after she has officiated at her 100th Funeral Ceremony.

NEW Distance Learning Courses
We are now in the third month after the introduction of our All New Distance Learning Courses. We are delighted with the take up of the New Courses and they now account for over 80% of all our training activities. Since their introduction in April this year 82% of enrollments have been for the Funeral & Family Celebrant Course,11% of enrollments on the Family Celebrant Course  and the remainder on the Funeral Celebrant Course. This promising start has put us on target  to achieve our target of 400 UKSoC Members by the year end.

Blogging - Competition
You may well be aware of the importance of blogging if you wish to become more visible or maintain a higher online profile. We understand that this activity can be time consuming. All UKSoC Members are asked to write down their celebrancy related anecdotes or educational articles and send them to comp@uksoc.com . Entries must be received by the 15th of each month for inclusion in the next newsletter or blog post. Alternatively, Members may be interested in being a guest blogger - contact James on james@uksoc.com for more information. Winners will be announced in each newsletter, with links to their personal website or profile page. Winning entries will also receive a £25 Amazon Voucher. Please refrain from using real names / place names in your entries in order that the real people and places cannot be identified. Thanks

Celebrant Profiles
We are inviting UKSoC Members to provide an enhanced updated profile (500 words max) with a view to featuring 2 Members each month in this newsletter in order that Members can be publicised. This blog is gaining in popularity month on month and business is being generated as a result, so the effort could prove to be worthwhile.

That is all we have for this month, Be Well & Be Happy! See you in July.
